One-on-One Training

Serving the Heart of Texas, from Waco to Temple.

How It Works:

Step 1:
Training Inquiry

First, fill out my training inquiry form to tell me more about you and your dog! I'll review your information and reach out to you with next steps.

Step 2:
Initial Consult

Your first session will be an information-packed training consultation. I'll come to your home, and we'll sit down together to discuss your dog and your goals. Together we'll make a custom training plan that works for you!

Step 3:
Private Lessons

With your training plan in place, we’ll begin private lessons tailored to you and your dog. Using science-backed positive methods, I’ll teach you how to teach your dog and ultimately give you the skills to take on any adventure—together.

Adventuring Modules

After your consultation and a few private lessons, you’ll have the option to schedule Adventuring Modules. These sessions take the skills you’ve been building at home and apply them in the real world—focusing on recall, leash skills, calm focus, and confidence around distractions. Each module is tailored to you and your dog, with positive, practical coaching that turns training into everyday adventures so you can explore more freely together.

(Prerequisites: In-Home Loose Leash Walking & Recall)

Adventure Prep

Do you want some help preparing your dog to adventure with you? Whether you're going on a multi-day camping trip, or just a trip to the store, this at-home module will make sure you and your dog are fully prepared to face any challenge.

Mother Neff State Park

Train while you explore one of Texas’ oldest state parks! In this private session, we’ll use the trails and natural beauty of Mother Neff as our classroom to practice recall, loose leash walking, and calm focus, helping your dog gain the skills for more freedom on every adventure.

Cameron Park

Experience the wild beauty of Waco’s crown jewel with your dog by your side. In this private session, we’ll turn Cameron Park’s riverside trails and open spaces into a training playground. We'll practice recall, leash skills, and calm confidence around distractions so your dog can enjoy more freedom on every outing.

Public Access

From Atwood’s to Lowe’s to Petco, this private session turns busy stores into training grounds. We’ll focus on calm walking, polite manners, and confidence around distractions: skills your dog can carry into any adventure.

Pay What You Want/
Pay What You Can

No questions asked; you'll tell me how much you want to pay per session, and that's how much I'll charge you.

Why do you structure your payments like this?

Put simply, I think the information I teach during my sessions is too valuable to charge a "typical" rate. Many dog owners, put off by the high price of professional training, avoid hiring a trainer until their dog's behaviors are too serious to be ignored.

I want to give dog owners the freedom to pursue dog training proactively. When dog owners understand how to communicate and teach their dogs, it prevents serious issues from occurring in the first place.

How much does dog training usually cost?

In the Central Texas area, private lessons with a certified dog trainer typically cost $70-100 per session.

How much should I pay?

Only you know your budget, but my general rule-of-thumb for deciding what your sessions should cost is to pay attention to how you feel when you think of a given rate. Since we rely on money to fulfill all of our basic needs, we have a noticeable physiological reaction to even the idea of losing money. If you feel panicky at the thought of paying a certain rate, that number is probably too high. On the other hand, if you feel nothing at all at all, the number you’re thinking of might be too low.

This is because you should also keep in mind your “investment motivation.” I expect my clients to do a fair amount of work with their dogs outside of our sessions, and I will drop you as a client if you don’t do that work. Some people find it easier to motivate themselves if the rate they’re paying is “significant” relative to their total discretionary income. In other words, it’s sometimes easier to invest time in a pursuit after you’ve invested money in that pursuit.

Furthermore, keep in mind that the more you pay, the more you are investing in the dogs of your community. When you pay a little bit more, you help pay for your less-fortunate neighbors to get training for their dogs, and you allow me to do more pro-bono work with shelter and foster dogs. This won’t just benefit your neighbors and their dogs–it will actually benefit you, too! When every dog owner understands the fundamentals of dog training, we’ll all have a happier time.

Can I change what I pay each session?

Absolutely!

Will I receive the same level of service regardless of what I pay?

Yes. My prized clients aren’t the people who pay the most; they’re the people who approach training with the right mindset. People who are excited to learn about their dog’s world, who are willing to invest time in developing a strong training relationship with their dog, and who want to help their dog live an empowered, free life.

If that sounds like you, fill out my training inquiry form, and let’s get started!
